To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul,
in You I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame.
Psalm 25:1&2
God is interested in us
God is essentially interested in and involved with our lives. He truly cares whether we live existences that are joyful or not. Let’s look at what God wants for us. He came to this Earth in human form. He didn’t have to. He could have set the whole of Creation in motion, sat back and watched the strangeness and cruelty unfold. Why didn’t He? He loves us, so He intervened, and through his Holy Spirit, He has given us the means to make the absolute most of what we have. Through this Spirit, we have wisdom and insight in the Bible, prophets who said what would happen as natural consequences of stepping away from God’s ways of being, and, through the Son, we have redemption even after we fall away. Noone but a loving God who wants a relationship with us would do this.

If people are feeling bad about having used pornography, whether because of an inner sense of unease or because it affects other areas of life, that is something Christ would want to take away from them. His mission was to liberate us from the things we need to repent from, and move on to fulfil His purposes. After all:
“Christ died for sin, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 Peter 3:18
Part of the Christian faith is about leaving behind whatever holds us back, and pressing forward to the things that God has in mind for us. In fact, reading from this website, and reconsidering pornography use could help you reassess many aspects of your life.
The Bible is chock-full of words about God’s mercy and grace. He is also angry, isn’t he?...I hear you say. He has myriad reasons to be angry about pornography and the devastation it is causing to families across Britain…and the rest of the world. If you feel that using pornography has left you feeling unpleasant or distant from God, sometimes hearing that He forgives you doesn’t feel like enough. It is the knowing, the faith in what has been written, that is the key to the freedom you seek. Let’s see the sweet words of Micah 7:8:

“Do not gloat over me, my enemy. Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light”…v18: “Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us, You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”
